Basic KickStart Live Food Workshop Sunday March 22, 2015

I Give Thanks!
This workshop was one the most amazing experience that I was privileged to share with the beautiful people that came out on Sunday March 22, 2015. We started out with a couple cancellations before hand, this was due to the postponement of the class the previous week before!

I arrived about 10 minutes early to set up the room and was soon joined by Trevor. BuffyC and Alex came in and was soon followed by Larry and Tracy. The class should have started at 1 pm however, we decided to wait a few minutes to see if anyone else would arrive. Initially I had set the tables to surround the room so I could be in the middle to share the information evenly, but when we realized it was just us, we gathered the tables together and the Five (5) strangers at the time, with only me as familiar, pulled the tables together and made a family! I was really touched, because this is something that we dream about. Different lives, varying moods but representing one family one consciousness

Afya Yoga & Pilates Studio made the perfect location and set the trend moving forward! Beautiful space and a serene energy surrounded us. We felt enveloped in peace and it allowed our creativity and and natural HUMANNESS to flow and guide us!

My KickStart Your Healthiest Lifestyle Journey = #LIVE28JOURNEY!!

My decision to do this Program was to show Jamaicans how simple and fun it can be to eat local foods. I believe that Jamaicans are eating foods that are clogging their systems and slowly killing them. In just the last few years, there has been a rise in Lifestyle Dis-Eases such as; Diabetes, Cancer, Endometriosis, and Prostate Cancer.

I believe that if we  release the junk foods and begin to take responsibility for the type of foods we consume,  a huge difference in our Health would be seen. The purchasing of processed foods may seem to be more convenient because they have a longer shelf life and is more affordable. However, the impact it has on our health is tremendous! It shortens our lifespan! Any food that has the ability to last for such a long time outdoors, imagine how long it stays in our body and never leaves.

In this program, I stopped eating all processed foods and meats, I only consumed what my ancestors who experienced a long, natural and healthy life ate; local organic foods! Yams, Sweet Potato, Breadfruit, Bammy (Cassava), Dasheen, Ackee and so much more!

Jamaica's Food is so nutrient dense, people from all over the world come here for healing! So why should we who live here be unhealthy to the point of dying from the same lifestyle dis-ease that people are coming here to get healed from?? Doesn't make any sense to me!! As an acquaintance of mine, Dr. Danovan said: Illness is not a way of Life, but the result of a way of Life!

The primary goal of my programs are to inform and educate. To make you a better partner in understanding and managing your own health, as did our centurion Grandparents and those before us.

The program was challenging because, I now had to prepare these foods myself and the cooking and eating time had now grown. However, this only encouraged me to manage my time a lot better.

There will be a recipe book releasing shortly that will document my journey and the foods that made it worth it!
